Killing of Sinwar marks end of Gaza war: Netanyahu

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called the killing of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar the “beginning of the end” of the Gaza war. He said this last Thursday night.

For more than a year, the war has been going on in the Gaza Strip of Palestine. Israel’s military said yesterday that Israeli forces killed Hamas leader Sinwar in an operation in southern Gaza last Wednesday. However, Hamas has not yet confirmed the death of Sinwar.

At the start of the Gaza war, Netanyahu pledged to eliminate Hamas. A video statement from Netanyahu’s office was broadcast yesterday. In this statement in English, he said, Sinwar is dead. He was killed by the brave soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces in Rafah, Gaza.

Welcoming Sinwar’s killing, Netanyahu said that while it is not the end of the Gaza war, it is the beginning of the end.
Netanyahu called Sinwar’s death an important breakthrough in the fall of the “evil” regime of Hamas before making the statement.

Hamas attacked Israel on October 7 last year. He was the head of Hamas in Gaza at that time. The attack triggered the ongoing Gaza war.https://realtimeenews.com/hezbollah-drones-hit-netanyahus-residence/

Last July, the political head of Hamas, Ismail Haniya, was assassinated in Tehran, the capital of Iran. Israel was blamed for his murder. After the assassination of Haniya, Sinwar became the overall leader of Hamas.

On October 7 last year, Israel suffered the deadliest attack in its history. According to Israeli government data, about 1,200 people were killed in the attack. In addition, about 250 people were taken hostage to Gaza.

In response, Israel started an indiscriminate attack on Gaza from October 7 last year. According to Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry, 42,438 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks.

According to the report of news agency AFP, Hamas is already weakened in the Gaza war. In this situation, Sinwar’s death is a big blow for the organization.
