Anti-discrimination student movement coordinators Hasnat Abdullah and Sarjis Alam have been human chained by students in Rangpur to protest against the unwanted announcement by the Jatiya Party. On Tuesday afternoon, a human chain was organized in front of the main gate of Begum Rokeya University under the banner of anti-discrimination student movement.
Meanwhile, leaders and activists of Jatiya Party and Jatiya Chhatra Samaj held a protest against the ‘conspiratorial statements’ against the Jatiya Party. The procession was taken out from the Jatiya Party office in the city’s Central Road at around nine o’clock on Tuesday night. Later, the procession went around the main road of the city and came back to the party office through Shapla Chattar. They gathered there around 10 pm.
General Secretary of Mahanagara Jatiya Party SM Yasir said that Jatiya Party leaders and workers were associated with the anti-discrimination movement in Rangpur. Two workers of the party died in this movement. Many were injured. But questions are being raised about the Jatiya Party. They protested it.
In Rangpur, the Jatiya Party and Jatiya Chhatra Samaj held a protest march. Last night in Payra Chatwar area of the city.
Earlier, a human chain was formed in front of the main gate of Begum Rokeya University under the banner of anti-discrimination student movement in protest against Jatiya Party’s speech from afternoon till evening. Students SM Ashiqur Rahman, Rahmat Ali, Shamsur Rahman, Arafat Islam etc. spoke in it.
Incidentally, last Monday night at the Jatiya Party office in Rangpur, Jatiya Party co-chairman and former mayor of Rangpur City Corporation Mostafizar Rahman declared Hasnat Abdullah and Sarjis Alam as unwanted in Rangpur. Chairman GM Quader was the chief guest in this meeting of the joint party of district and metropolitan Jatiya Party. Students of anti-discrimination student movement protested against the announcement in Rangpur city on Monday night.
Recently, the interim government has been in dialogue with the political parties of the country on various issues including elections. Among them, Sarjis Alam and Hasnat Abdullah, one of the coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement, expressed their anger regarding the dialogue of the chief adviser with the Jatiya Party. They opposed inviting the Jatiya Party to a dialogue, referring to it as a crony of the autocratic Awami government and a broker of spineless fascists. After this post, anger was created among the leaders and workers of Jatiya Party.
